1. The data we collect

When you use theUniversité Grenoble Alpes websites and intranet, you may be asked to provide us with information, some of which may identify you:

We collect only the information strictly necessary to respond to your request.

Cookies

We use various cookies to track website traffic and integrate services that enhance the site’s interactivity.

• Essential cookies:These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly: Tarteaucitron is used to store your consent settings, which are retained for 1 year.
• Web analytics cookies:We use Matomo, a French web analytics tool that collects and analyzes data related to your visit to our site for the purpose of continuously improving the information we provide. The Matomo tool allows the collected data to be hosted locally on a university server. Matomo does not transmit personal data to third parties. It installs cookies—text files placed on your computer—that collect personal data used solely to provide statistical traffic data (the number of page views, the number of visits, visitor activity on the site, and their return frequency).

Your connection data: When you browse theUniversité Grenoble Alpes websites and intranet, we collect personal information about you, including the date and time of your connection and/or browsing, your browser type, your browser language, and your IP address (retained for 36 months).

• _pk_id: used to store your unique visitor ID (if Matomo audience tracking is enabled); this data is retained for 13 months
• _pk_ses: enables the temporary storage of your visit data (if Matomo audience tracking is enabled); this data is retained for 30 minutes

You can choose to prevent Matomo from placing cookies before using this site. You can also disable the use of cookies, either partially or entirely, by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser.  

• Third-party cookies:These are cookies used by third parties, such as social media platforms and audio-video platforms. You can opt out of these cookies when you visit our websites.

The following third-party services are used on our websites: Facebook, Facebook (posts), LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Acast, Ausha, and SoundCloud.

2. How do we use the data we collect?

We use the data we collect to:

• respond to your requests on the legal basis of legitimate interest.
• retain your login information to comply with a legal obligation
• analyze your browsing activity on our websites using Matomo, based on your consent
• provide social media access features based on the legal basis of consent

3. Who receives the data we collect?

• The recipients of your data are the Communications and IT departments, as well as authorized personnel atUniversité Grenoble Alpes.  
• Our subcontractor, Tarte au Citron, has access to data regarding the acceptance and rejection of cookies on our websites.
• In accordance with applicable regulations, data may be disclosed to the competent authorities upon request in connection with investigations into the perpetrators of crimes committed online.
• Your data may be collected by third parties (social media and video platforms) for their own purposes, in accordance with their privacy policies.Université Grenoble Alpes control over these third-party cookies.

4. How long do we retain your data?

Your data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes set forth in this policy, in accordance with applicable law:

• The data used to respond to your requests submitted via the forms is retained for as long as necessary to process your request and for a maximum period of one year.
• Connection and browsing data are legally retained for 36 months.
• The retention periods for Matomo cookies are specified in the section above titled “Audience Measurement Cookies.”

5. How is your data protected?

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized access to, or alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction of your data.
