MFA - Mathematics: from foundations to applications

The main objective of the MFA research area is to strengthen the connections between fundamental mathematics, applied mathematics, computational science, and real-world applications.

While all areas of mathematics are potentially relevant, we can highlight cryptology (especially quantum cryptology), geometry (for example, in connection with algebraic equations, partial differential equations, or data science), probability, and various aspects of optimization. 

Similarly, mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, and high-performance computing—particularly for applications in the life sciences and Earth sciences—are central to this research area.
