COBot Connected to an i4.0 Automated Production System

Platform, Automatic control

The inclusion of a cobot/robot and a machine vision system on the
industrial automation platform helps students develop their skills in several areas.

Students can learn about the design, programming, integration, and implementation of robotic systems, as well as the development of machine vision solutions for guidance, quality control, and inspection. The platform also helps students develop skills in machine safety, industrial networks, and inter-device communication. Students learn to integrate, test, maintain, and secure automated systems in accordance with industry standards. Finally, the cobot serves as a teaching tool for learning digital axis control, including the sizing, programming, tuning, and operation of machines with automated movements.

Today, the cobot is used on an automated training production line to cap jars.

It is connected to an industrial camera and several PLCs.

Related projects and course units

It is used primarily in the BUT3 program, Track AII—Automation and Industrial Computing, within the GEII department.

In addition, this cobot is expected to be used for GEII's outreach activities, such as student fairs, science festivals, and open houses.
