Platform, Fablab
Fablab MASTIC is the first major fablab on theUniversité Grenoble Alpes ofUniversité Grenoble Alpes campus. The development of Fablab MASTIC was inspired by the successful experiences of two micro-fablabs: the AIR platform and the Ensimag fablab. These two entities joined forces to form the FabMSTIC platform.
Although officially affiliated with the Grenoble Computer Science Laboratory (LIG), it is open to the entire university community. Students and faculty, researchers and doctoral candidates, student entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in working on innovative technology projects are welcome to use it.
The main goal is to enable users to turn an idea into a tangible object. They are trained in the use of the workshop’s various rapid prototyping machines (3D printer, laser cutter, vinyl cutter, etc.). The fablab promotes the“do it yourself (DIY) ” philosophy. Through this approach, people quickly come to understand the challenges and constraints involved in designing their object.
