Platform, Automatic control
The Multi-Tanks-System educational platform is designed to promote hands-on learning in advanced automation for ENSE3 students in engineering and master's programs.
The Multi-Tanks System consists of three models, each comprising:
- Three stacked containers of different shapes and sizes,
- Three controllable solenoid valves,
- A pump that can be controlled.
- A data acquisition card
- A computer to control the model
These models are small-scale representations of natural or artificial waterways and are used to address issues related to the control of water levels and outflow rates for each reservoir.
Related projects and course units
This platform is installed in the AIDA lab atENSE3 in GreEn-ER. The main objective is for each student to gain an understanding of the various phases of designing a control system in the field of hydraulics through hands-on laboratory work. Several control laws are implemented and tested on these models, starting with classic PID controls studied in the first year of engineering, followed by advanced automatic controls based on state feedback, taught in the second year of engineering, and finally multivariable controls, studied in the third year of engineering. Other types of nonlinear control (nonlinear observers, predictive control, robust control, etc.) can also be demonstrated on these models.
