Platform, Robotics and Vision
A precursor to the “Design Office of the Future,” Grenoble INP’s Vision-R platform turns interactive visualization into a powerful tool for learning and research training, enabling future engineers and faculty members to imagine, simulate, and implement the technological solutions that will transform production processes.
Hosted by the G-SCOP laboratory at the Grenoble INP – Félix Viallet campus, the Vision-R platform offers a glimpse into the “Design Office of the Future” by placing technological immersion at the heart of education in design sciences and industrial engineering. Beyond simple experiential learning, this technological platform provides state-of-the-art hardware and software resources (CAVE, mini-CAVE, virtual and augmented reality headsets, touchscreen walls, motion capture, eye tracking) that enable future engineers to test concepts, envision new industrial applications, and evaluate these technologies with a critical eye. To prepare them for the realities of industry, the platform also trains them in strategy by teaching them to develop comprehensive change management plans (equipment procurement, development of virtual environments, deployment, training, interoperability, and data management). At the same time, Vision-R is an indispensable tool for Master’s Research students; where they conduct research aimed at better understanding design and production processes (design reviews, co-design, analysis of musculoskeletal disorders, on-the-job training, reconfiguration and monitoring of production lines, teleoperation, etc.) and optimizing them through new modeling and simulation methods, such as digital twins or advanced data visualization.
