Call for "Team-Action" projects

The purpose of this call for proposals is to form multi-laboratory teams that will work together on a scientific program that is both precise and ambitious, designed for the long term, with clearly identified intermediate goals, with a view to achieving significant advances on a topic within the scope of the LabEx, in connection with one or more of the 5 Persyval research areas.

Two action teams will be funded under this call, starting in February 2026, for a period of 3 to 4 years.

Each " " action team will receive €185,000 in funding for a "research package," which may cover thesis or postdoctoral funding, master’s degree stipends, visiting researchers, fieldwork, or other operating expenses.

 

Selection criteria

• the quality and relevance of the proposed scientific program,
• the avenues explored to ensure its long-term commitment to research and/or commercialization,
• the complementary nature of the project leaders,
• the novelty of collaboration between research teams,
• the appropriateness of the requested resources.

The project must involve two (or more) teams from different laboratories, including at least two laboratories from LabEx Persyval.

The other laboratories involved may be located outside Grenoble, be from the private sector, or be based abroad, provided their contribution to the project is justified.

Only laboratories within the LabEx scope receive funding.

Proposals submitted by "young" researchers or faculty members who are not yet involved in labEx projects are strongly encouraged.  

 

2025 Calendar

Application

The application process consists of two steps

• A letter of intent (2 pages maximum) must be submitted to the heads of the relevant research areas*, who, after reviewing all letters of intent and discussing them with the executive committee, will approve certain proposals and may offer suggestions regarding their scientific direction.  

• Application proposals that have been approved by the research committee must then be prepared in consultation with the heads of the relevant research areas. They will subsequently be presented to the LabEx Scientific Council.

• Before midnight on Monday, October 6, 2025
• By email addressed to the managers of the targeted area(s),
                     copy to Anne-Laure Bernardinuniv-grenoble-alpes.fr (anne-laure[dot]bernardin[at]univ-grenoble-alpes[dot]fr)
• Subject: EA – Focus Area [MFA/LSHS/SD/ICT-S] – [Acronym of the action team]

No more than 2 pages, including:

• the topic
• positioning in relation to Persyval research areas
• the group of researchers in question

 

Step² - Submission of complete applications

Following the approval of the expanded executive committee, complete and submit the application online, 
at https://persyval-calls.imag.fr/, by November 25, 2025.

 

Fill in the fields: 

• Title
• Persyval Research Areas
• Last name, first name, rank, email address, and laboratory of the applicants: 
  A maximum of 4 applicants, who must be permanent members of at least 2 Persyval laboratories.
• Other funding (IDEX or LabEx) secured by the project leaders since 2022

  in the form of a single PDF file, no more than 10 pages long, excluding bibliographies.

This must be submitted online during the second step.

In French or English, no more than 10 pages (excluding the bibliography), 
it should be structured as follows:

 

1. Synopsis—a one -page summary of:

• the topic and its context,
• specific scientific challenges
• their stance on the LabEx's research themes

2. Proposed methodology

• emphasizing the complementary roles of team members
  (not necessarily limited to the project leader)
• identifying the key issues that will be the focus of a dissertation and/or postdoctoral research

3. Expected results

• the scientific, technical, and software benefits,
• the potential for enhancement and/or sustainability

4. Key steps planned
5. Request for Resources

• the thesis and/or postdoctoral research topics sought
• a proposed budget: a breakdown of the amounts requested for internship stipends, researcher invitations, business trips, equipment, and operating expenses.
