Cybersecurity Challenges / PERSYVAL-Minalogic Breakfast Meetings

In addition to their often disastrous economic and social impacts and the threats they pose to critical infrastructure of vital importance, these attacks undermine public confidence in the ongoing digital transition and can sometimes be a source of serious international tensions. Proposing viable and sustainable solutions to ensure end-to-end digital security, respect for citizens’ privacy, and the resilience of infrastructure is now a legal, economic, scientific, and societal challenge.

The goal of this morning’s session is to explore these issues through the lens of two major current challenges: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the security of connected devices.

    The security challenges associated with the deployment of connected devices are becoming increasingly complex on several levels: these devices are growing in complexity, collecting and processing sensitive data, and interacting with distributed and intelligent systems. We will first summarize these security challenges—both hardware and software—for these connected devices before exploring the various underlying technological challenges regarding the security of the devices themselves, their interaction with their systems, and their certification.
