Cybersecurity Challenges / PERSYVAL-Minalogic Breakfasts

Beyond their often disastrous economic and social impacts, and the threats they pose to critical infrastructure of vital importance, these attacks undermine citizens' trust in the ongoing digital transition and sometimes become a source of serious international tension. Proposing viable and sustainable solutions to ensure end-to-end digital security, respect for citizens' privacy, and structural resilience has now become a legal, economic, scientific, and societal challenge.

The objective of this morning session is to illustrate these issues around two major current challenges: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the security of connected objects.

    The security issues related to the deployment of connected objects are becoming increasingly complex on several levels: the objects themselves are growing more complex, collecting and handling sensitive data while interacting with distributed and intelligent systems. We will first summarize these security challenges—both hardware and software—for connected objects, before reviewing the underlying technological challenges concerning the security of the objects themselves, their interaction with systems, and their certification.
